Netball Report by Eve and Freya

Yesterday, Grangefield’s Netball team went to Pate’s Grammar school. We were all very confident but a little bit nervous! We started off our first game really well and WON every match in our pool which placed us top and through to the Finals! Triumphantly we won the final 8-0! With only conceding one goal the entire tournament and scoring 61 GOALS ourselves, you can see why Mrs Phillips was so proud of the whole team both in attack and defence.

Goals scored.
Ellie 35 goals
Jamie D 8 goals
Kaitlin 6 goals
Isabelle 6 goals
Amy 5 goals
Harry F 1 goal

Quad Kids

On Wednesday the 18 May, ten children were selected for a sports event called Quad Kids which took place at Cleeve School. The girls were: Mary, Imy, Evie and Milly from Year 4 and Lily from Year 3. The boys who were selected were: James, Vaughn, William and Ted from Year 4 and Lewis from Year 3. We all had to do four different events which were: 400m long distance, 50m sprint, zorb throwing and standing long jump. They were all really fun! We all had to compete against children from five other schools. We all scored points for how we got on in each event which was added up at the end. Grangefield scored 1,449 points and came joint first with Bishops Cleeve A! Hopefully this means that both schools will go into the next round. As well as the team’s success, Imy was announced the all-round best girl across all sporting challenges.   Woo Hoo! Report by Mary and Imogen.

Yesterday Grangefield took part in the level 2 rounders tournament at St Edwards. Filled with excitement, we arrived ready to conquer the world! Our first two games were extremely successful with results 15- ½ against Holy Trinity and 16-3 against Gotherington. This placed us in the semi-final against Tirlebrook; feeling confident we went on to win 8- ½ which progressed us to the Final against Twyning. It was a challenging Final where we had to pull together all our skills to gain an outstanding victory of 7 ½- 5. We are now through to the level 3 county finals next month. “I’m extremely proud of the whole team who showed excellent skills both batting and fielding along with outstanding sportsmanship throughout.” Mrs Phillips.

Level 3 County Finals

On Wednesday 23rd March Grangefield took part in the Level 3 County Finals for Netball and Hockey at Cheltenham College.  It was a wonderful day of high quality sport where Grangefield participated extremely well.  Both teams missed the semi-finals by one goal!  Our final positions in the County Championships were 5th in the Netball and 17th in the Hockey.  To top off a fantastic day of competition we are thrilled to announce that Oliver T was awarded a certificate for ‘determination’ in Hockey and Harry F was awarded the highest honour of ‘best player’ of the Netball tournament – an outstanding achievement!  We are very proud of all the children that represented the school – go team Grangefield!

Quick Sticks Hockey

Grangefield had their 3rd round of matches on Monday evening of which we were unfortunate not to win any of them. However, the children played really well and Mrs Gilroy is very proud of them as four of the six members of the team stepped in at the last minute due to injuries and illness to our regular team. We are very lucky that we have been asked to represent Cheltenham at the level 3 competition at Cheltenham College on Wednesday of next week. So, Grangefield have got both netball and hockey representatives at the level 3 County Level. We wish both teams the best of luck.

B team festival report by Charlie, Josh and Raj

Our first match we were against Bishop Cleeve academy 1. We tried our best but we sadly lost 2-0. Our next match was against Woodmancote School we played well but we unfortunately we lost 1-0. Our last match of the tournament against Bishop Cleeve 2 we played out of our skin. We really wanted to win this last game of the tournament and thankfully Vaughn whipped across into the box. Luckily we had Joshua at the back post unmarked so he could knee it in to the back of the net we were celebrating like there was no tomorrow. We held it in with Damien’s amazing saves; he kept us in the game until the whistle went we were chuffed of joy. Our man of the match was a tough decision but it was Joshua.
