We were shrunk with some magic shrinking dust and went on a mini adventure in the Copse! We zip-wired down twigs, made boats out of bark, hung from cobwebs, stayed at the bug hotel, made a sleeping bag out of leaves, bounced on a daisy, rode on a snail, danced on a buttercup, climbed a twig, surfed on a stick, slept on a feather, fought giant mini-beasts and made an outfit out of natural materials.

What I like about this school is Owl Groups because kids from every year group gather together and share their words to other children instead of always talking to their best friends.

Year 1

Year 1 marks the start of the Key Stage 1 learning journey.

We continue to build upon the learning from the Reception year but this year is the start of following the National Curriculum. A variety of exciting topics are planned for the children. We continue to use the Copse and outdoor learning spaces to support children’s learning. The Year 1 curriculum is interesting, motivating, broad and balanced. It is based on our core values and is relevant to our children and their interests.

We have an inspirational, knowledge led approach to the curriculum, which the children love. By making links across all areas of the curriculum, learning is purposeful and children have the opportunity to use what they have previously learnt in other core subjects. We strive to engage and develop a life-long love of learning.
