Year 1 have been busy upcycling their clothes as part of their topic on ‘How can a 6 year old protect the Earth?’. Throughout the summer term the children have been learning about how they can reduce, reuse and recycle to help protect the Earth.

What I like about this school is Owl Groups because kids from every year group gather together and share their words to other children instead of always talking to their best friends.

Year 1

Year 1 marks the start of the Key Stage 1 learning journey.

We continue to build upon the learning from the Reception year but this year is the start of following the National Curriculum. A variety of exciting topics are planned for the children. We continue to use the Copse and outdoor learning spaces to support children’s learning. The Year 1 curriculum is interesting, motivating, broad and balanced. It is based on our core values and is relevant to our children and their interests.

We have an inspirational, knowledge led approach to the curriculum, which the children love. By making links across all areas of the curriculum, learning is purposeful and children have the opportunity to use what they have previously learnt in other core subjects. We strive to engage and develop a life-long love of learning.
