On Saturday 12th March, three of our pupils represented Cheltenham in the Cross-Country County Finals at St Edward’s School. They were all amazing and I am so impressed with how well they did – proud teacher moment!

They came 3rd , 9th and 46th .

Children who placed in the top 10 have now qualified for the National Finals at the end of March.  Such an amazing achievement! Overall, Cheltenham won the team event so all 3 children received gold medals for all their hard work.

Sports and PE at Grangefield

The children experience a range of sports and activities throughout their time at Grangefield, which enables them to
apply and improve their skills in different contexts. Invasion games, striking and fielding, outdoor adventure
activities, gymnastics, dance and swimming are all covered within this developmental process.
Our curriculum is supplemented by a wide range of extra curriculum activities, run by teachers and external
coaches. These clubs are part of our Extend Awards initiative which make links with the school games values and
recognises the commitment and perseverance of children across the school.
As an active school within our community we are part of our local schools sports cluster which hosts regular
sporting events. We are also part of a wider Cheltenham sports and physical activities network, Move More, which
facilitates our Netball and Football Leagues as well as many other, year round, sporting fixtures…. Hockey,
Rounders, Quad Kids and Athletics to name a few.
We also hold our own competitions within school, using our owl groups to compete against each other. We hold an
annual intra cross country competition, as well as other smaller intra competitions, with Sports Day rounding off the
year!
We are a competitive school but we pride ourselves on our sportsmanship. The school games values and RealPE
cogs underpin all our sports at Grangefield.
